A homeowner on Beaconsfield Road, Hatfield, reached out regarding persistent issues with their flat roof extension. The existing mineral felt covering had begun to blister and crack, leading to several leaks during heavy rainfall. Our survey revealed that inadequate falls in the original construction were causing water to pool, accelerating the deterioration of the roofing material.
We proposed and implemented a complete roof renovation using the Sikaplan PVC single-ply system. The work involved:
- Removing the failed roofing layers down to the deck
- Installing new timber firings to create adequate drainage falls
- Fitting a high-performance vapor control layer
- Adding 120mm PIR insulation to improve thermal performance
- Installing the Sikaplan membrane with welded joints
